Auditions Planned for Summer Palace

PULLMAN, Wash. — Auditions for the largest cast yet to perform on Washington State University’s R.R. Jones Theatre stage are set for next weekend as Pullman’s Summer Palace prepares for the musical fantasy, “The Wizard of Oz.”
Auditions are scheduled for June 5 from 10 a.m.-noon and 1:30-4 p.m., and June 6 from 1:30-4 p.m. in WSU’s Daggy Hall theaters. Those interested in cast parts should meet in Daggy Hall’s second floor theater lobby. They will be asked to read from the play, follow a few dance steps and sing part of a song prepared in advance during a one-hour audition. No previous stage experience is required.
Rehearsals will be held Tuesday and Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings starting July 8, as well as evenings during the weeks of performances. “The Wizard of Oz” will be staged July 22-24 and 29-31.
All youth earning cast parts will be expected to enroll in the Summer Palace Youth Theatre Workshop planned for July 6-9 and 12-16 from 10-11:30 a.m. Workshop tuition is $25. To register, call Barbara Jones at the theater office, 335-7447.
Questions about the auditions can be directed to the WSU theater.
Pullman’s Summer Palace begins its season June 24 with the romantic comedy “The Fourposter.” It will be staged through July 26 and July 1-3. “A Tuna Christmas” follows on July 8-10 and 15-17.
The theater box office, 335-7236, opens June 7 and will take reservations from 1:30-4 p.m. Monday-Friday during the Palace season.
