Search Committee Named for Advancement Vice President

PULLMAN, Wash. — Barbara Couture, dean of Washington State University’s College of
Liberal Arts, will chair the search committee for the next vice president for university
advancement, officials announced Wednesday.
Connie Kravas, the current vice president who also serves as president of the WSU
Foundation, leaves at the end of the month for a vice presidency at the University of California,
Riverside.
The committee includes board members from the WSU Foundation and the WSU Alumni
Association as well as faculty, staff and students. Individuals from WSU’s four campus
communities and the Puget Sound area were appointed.
“WSU has had remarkable success in attracting private support,” WSU President Samuel
Smith said. “We are looking for an individual who can build on this track record and take us to
the next level of success.”
Representatives from the WSU Foundation board include Jack Creighton, Bellevue, chair;
Jacque Doane, Yarrow Point, incoming chair; and Vicki Gordon, Tri-Cities, chair, President’s
Associates. Representatives from the Alumni Association board include Sheri Freidenrich,
Huntington Beach, Calif., president; and Craig Gable, Redmond, past president.
Faculty members include Kenneth Casavant, agricultural economics professor; Robert
Greenberg, associate professor of accounting, information systems and business law; Erich Lear,
director, School of Music and Theater Arts; and Michael Skinner, director, Center for
Reproductive Biology.
Administrators and staff include Virginia Boyle, associate director, alumni relations; Mary
Gresch, director, foundation communications; Milton Lang, student recruiter, College of
Education; Linda Lopez-George, development director, WSU Spokane; Ernestine Madison,
associate vice president for administration/human relations and diversity; Mary Kay McFadden,
executive director of development, WSU West, Seattle; Dan Peterson, director of planned giving;
Rene Scourey, assistant development director, College of Business and Economics; and Nancy
Youlden, director of enrollment management, WSU Vancouver.
Students include Stephen Kuehn, Graduate and Professional Student Association president,
and Steve Wymer, Associated Students of WSU president.
