WSU Undergraduates Earn FASR Awards

PULLMAN, Wash. — Eleven Washington State University undergraduate students were
awarded scholarships during the recent Faculty Association for Scholarship and Research
awards presentation program.
According to FASR vice president Bill Davis, competition for this year’s awards was
especially keen. First place awards carried a cash prize of $400 and were presented to Florian
Muller, genetics and cell biology, and Rosannette Rimando, comparative American cultures.
Second place awards with prizes of $200 were given to Jodi Miller, fine arts; Rizal Hariadi,
physics; and Willliam Barry, veterinary comparative anatomy pharmacology and physiology.
Third place awards with prizes of $100 went to Daisy Daubert, VCAPP; Kyle Stannert,
history, and Tracy Hawkins and Teresa Knox, mechanical engineering at WSU Tri-Cities.
Honorable mention awards of $50 were presented to Michael Rowe, geology; and Jennifer Wall,
zoology.
Each entrant must be nominated by his or her faculty adviser. An original research paper;
project report; an artist, writer or composer portfolio; or similar evidence of research, scholarship
or creative activity is required in the competitive scholastic evaluation.
Students from eight Pullman campus departments and one WSU Tri-Cities department
submitted projects for review by this year’s award committee.
