PULLMAN, Wash. — John Sutherland has been appointed publications manager for the
Washington State University Office of University Publications and Printing/WSU Press. He will
take over from Managing Editor Jan Gantz, who is resigning.
Sutherland brings 18 years of experience in university publications development and
production. He has worked as publications coordinator at the OUPP since December 1991. He
was formerly director of publications at the University of San Diego. Sutherland attended Seattle
University, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in journalism.
Gantz has been with WSU for 15 years, and is leaving to pursue personal goals outside of
the publications field. Sutherland takes over on May 4.
