Auditions Planned for Summer Palace Company

PULLMAN, Wash. — Washington State University’s School of Music and Theatre Arts will hold auditions for the 1999 Pullman Summer Palace theater company 10 a.m.-3 p.m. March 27, at Daggy Hall’s R.R. Jones Theatre.
The auditions are for the selection of full-time company members only-12 performers and technicians. The company will work from June 1-July 31, and undergraduate/graduate credit is available. The stipend for the season is $1,000.
Auditions consist of a serious or comic monologue and a song (bring a cassette tape for accompaniment) not to exceed six minutes. A short interview will follow the audition. To reserve an audition time for March 27, call Barbara Jones at 509/335-7447.
Auditions for specific roles for community members in “The Wizard of Oz” are set for June 5 and 6.
The summer series begins with “The Fourposter” from June 24-26 and July 1-3. The second play is “Tuna Christmas” from July 8-10 and 15-17. The final play of the 1999 summer season will be “The Wizard of Oz” from July 22-24 and 29-31.
Typically, the rehearsal/work sessions will run Monday-Friday, 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., 1:30-4:30 p.m. and 7-10 p.m., said George Caldwell, Summer Palace managing director. Saturday sessions will be from 9 a.m.-noon and 1-4 p.m.
Caldwell said the purpose of the company is to achieve a fully integrated theatrical experience. Company members will be expected to participate in more than one capacity. The primary assignment will be based on the company member’s area of emphasis: acting, technical or administration. A secondary assignment will be made according the member’s interest and experience.
