WSU President Sam Smith to Speak in Tacoma

Washington State University President Sam Smith will make several public appearances in Tacoma in January, February, and March to comment on the recent “Report of the 2020 Commission on the Future of Post-Secondary Education.” His scheduled appearances will include:

Wednesday, Jan. 20 — The City Club of Tacoma, Tacoma (Noon-2 p.m.), at the Sheraton Tacoma (Ballroom), 1320 Broadway Plaza, downtown Tacoma.

President Smith and University of Washington President Richard McCormick will both comment on the “Report of the 2020 Commission on the Future of Post-Secondary Education.” Retired Tacoma News Tribune publisher Kelso Gillenwater, one of the 2020 Commission members, will introduce both speakers. Thursday, Feb. 18 — Rotary Club of Tacoma (Noon-1:30 p.m.), at the Tacoma Elks Lodge, 1965 S. Union Ave., Tacoma (near 23rd St.).

Tuesday, March 30 — Tacoma Kiwanis Club, (11:45 a.m.-1:15 p.m.), at the Sheraton Tacoma (Ballroom), 1320 Broadway Plaza, downtown Tacoma.
