PULLMAN, Wash. — When fathers and family members arrive at Washington State University for Dad’s Weekend, they
will find tidy campus grounds thanks to an Environmental Task Force project.
The task force — a program of the Associated Students of WSU — has organized a campus clean-up from 3-6 p.m.
Wednesday, Oct. 28. Dad’s Weekend is Oct. 31-Nov. 1.
According to Mark Bennett, task force president and a sociology major from Woodinville, university student
organizations, clubs and living groups have been invited to participate. “This is gaining momentum. There has been a good
response. We hope to have at least couple hundred students participating.” As part of that number, Interfraternity Council
representatives expect good involvement from fraternity members.
The event is being coordinated with the WSU Physical Plant/Grounds, which will supply trash bags and a dumpster on
Glenn Terrell Mall for refuse and debris.
At the beginning of the event, teams of 10 members each will be sent to specific locations. Each team member will wear
sanitary gloves and carry a trash bag. One team member will collect recyclables.
Before it begins and at its conclusion, individual team members and team leaders will check in and out from tables set up
on the mall. Working the tables will be WSU Community Service Learning Center student staff and task force members.
