Those of us who have worked many years to make WSU a warm and friendly place for students to exercise the “privilege” of obtaining a higher education were saddened and dissapointed to learn that a few students publicly humiliated the university by throwing a childish tantrum with some very adult consequences.
We stand with the administration and law enforcement agencies with respect to suspension and criminal prosecution of those who broke the law. Those 17,000 students and other members of the university community who choose not to disturb the peace week after week, and choose not to break the law, and choose not to attack law enforcement officers deserve nothing less.
While the incident was certainly bad enough, we are very thankful that the police and fire agencies involved were professional and restrained enough to avoid further tragedy.
