WSU Jazz and Vocal Ensembles in Concert April 7

PULLMAN, Wash. — The Washington State University Vocal Jazz Ensemble, directed by Daniel Bukvich, and the Jazz Big Band, directed by Gregory Yasinitsky, will present an 8 p.m. concert April 7 in the Bryan Hall Auditorium on the Washington State University campus.
The program will include blues, ballads, Latin jazz and swinging arrangements of standards. Among the works in the program will be “Fantail,” composed by Neal Hefti for the Count Basie band; “Tad Boppin’,” composed by Mike Tomaro; Chick Corea’s Latin jazz classic “500 Miles High”; and a new composition by director Yasinitsky entitled “Five Spot.”
Featured performers will be vocalist Jamie Robinson, pianist Sonja Ramirez, flutist Franji Holland, drummer Chris Earley, percussionist Greg Henion, trumpeters Greg Duncan and Darin Graber, bassists Tracie King and Roger Shew, and saxophonists Jeremy Hamilton, Eric Skidmore and Steve Erwin.
