Statement from Pres. Smith on Appointment of Two New Regents

I am very pleased to have two outstanding alumni of Washington State University appointed by Gov. Gary Locke to the university’s Board of Regents. Both Rob Fukai and Bill Marler have been actively involved with the university and will bring important understandings of WSU to their new posts.

Bill Marler recently received the Distinguished Achievement Award from WSU’s College of Liberal Arts, an indication of his achievements and involvement. Rob Fukai is active on both the WSU Spokane Advisory Board and on the WSU Foundation Board of Trustees.

I wish to thank Regents Scott Lukins and John Ellis for their very significant leadership and guidance during a period of unprecedented growth and change at WSU.
