WSU Offers $1,000 Scholarships to Transfer Students

PULLMAN, Wash. – Washington State University is offering $1,000 achievement scholarships to students with a 3.5 or higher grade point average who plan to transfer from a community college to the Pullman campus for the spring semester.
The scholarships are available to students with a minimum of 40 quarter-credit hours or 27 semester-credit hours completed at the time of application. Applications to WSU must be postmarked no later than Nov. 30.
The increased scholarship support was made available through Campaign WSU, the recently completed fund-raising effort. WSU alumni and friends contributed more than $275.4 million to the University during the multi-year campaign, which increased WSU’s scholarship endowment from $14.8 million in 1990 to more than $46 million.
“Our intent is to enable some of the state’s most talented students to take advantage of WSU’s outstanding programs,” Gus Kravas, vice provost for Student Affairs, said. “Our alumni can testify to the advantages of a WSU education, and these additional funds enable us to offer opportunities to more students.”
Students may visit WSU’s Web site at http://www.wsu.edu/advise/ transfer-courses to evaluate their transfer credits. Students may request an application by e-mail at admiss@wsu.edu, online at http://www.wsu.edu or by calling 1-888-GO-2-WSU.
More than 55 percent of WSU’s alumni gave to Campaign WSU, one of the highest participation rates of public universities in the country. Many donors gave to scholarships, enabling WSU to award a record $7 million in scholarship support last year.
