Andrew Earns WSU Alumni Award

PULLMAN, Wash.–A 1976 Washington State University graduate has been honored for long-time volunteer service to his alma mater and the Longview community.
Dave Andrew received the WSU Alumni Achievement Award Thursday, Oct. 2, in Longview. The occasion was at a tailgate party leading up to Saturday’s WSU-University of Oregon Pac-10 Conference football game in Eugene. Kay Green, Longview area alumni director, presented the award.
Andrew is advertising sales manager for Century Communications in Longview.
His continuous service as deputy director or director of the WSU Alumni Association in the Longview area dates to 1983. He also served on the association’s executive committee in 1990-91. Since 1988, he has served on the advisory committee for WSU Vancouver.
Andrews has been a fixture in recent years as master of ceremonies for the annual Kelso Chamber of Commerce banquet. He also is a public address announcer for high school sporting events, and served as chairman of the media committee for the 1997 Babe Ruth World Series in Longview. In addition, he does some public address work for Lower Columbia College sports and is president-elect of the LCC Booster Club.
Much of Andrew’s time is devoted to his church and youth–as youth group leader, Sunday School teacher and church camp counselor. He is a past member of the Board of Deacons for Calvary Community Church.
He has been involved in the Longview Girls Softball Association for 11 years as a coach, scheduler, tournament director, umpire and league president.
While completing a degree in business administration at WSU, Andrew was president of Alpha Tau Omega fraternity and a student representative the WSU Athletic Council.
