PULLMAN, Wash. - Membership in the WSU Alumni Association (WSUAA) has more than doubled since December 2003. While the university’s alumni base grew by 32 percent, WSUAA membership surged by 105 percent. As of July, there were 27,424 paying members, and WSUAA forecasts that will eclipse 28,000 in mid-September.
"The WSUAA plays a critical role in the success of this great university, and it couldn’t achieve so much without the loyal support of its members,” said WSU President Elson S. Floyd, a Platinum Life Member of WSUAA.
"Great Cougar support made this happen,” agreed Tim Pavish ’80, WSUAA executive director since 2003. "In the early days, I told the team we were going to double membership and some folks thought it just couldn’t be done.”
Pavish attributes membership growth to the WSUAA’s mix of member benefits and alumni events, as well as improved communication. WSUAA is working to offer additional benefits, services and programs to its members, he said.
"We have launched new programs like the Cougar Business Network and Wine-By-Cougars wine club in order to engage more alumni,” he said.
