Garrison begins term as ombudsman for College of Pharmacy
PULLMAN, Wash. - Associate Professor Mark W. Garrison has been appointed to the new position of "Ombudsman for Students” in the College of Pharmacy, effective immediately.
In his new role, Garrison will serve as an additional resource for our students, allowing the college to separate student support on administrative issues from student support on academic issues, such as advising.
"Mark will provide support and advice to students who need a trusted and impartial intermediary to whom they can voice their concerns,” said Gary M. Pollack, dean of the College of Pharmacy.
Garrison said, "With the continuing consolidation of the college to the Spokane campus, our students will have a number of adjustments to make. It is essential we have an efficient means in place for them to bring forward their concerns and know they will be heard.”
Garrison has been a pharmacy faculty member since 1989 and recently finished a term as assistant dean for student services. He has received a "teacher of the year” award six times, including the past four years. His appointment as ombudsman is effective through June 30, 2013.
