PULLMAN, Wash. - The 2011-2012 Cougar Colleagues Campaign is approaching its final month, and campaign officials are hoping to increase employee participation by at least two percent over the next five weeks.
Ultimately, the goal of the campaign, which seeks donations from faculty and staff, is to increase participation from last year's 23 percent level to 25 percent.
Employee participation levels are said to be important not only from an internal standpoint, but also from an external fundraising and support standpoint.

Last fiscal year, 23 percent of WSU employees donated $852,000, which benefitted hundreds of programs throughout the WSU campuses and WSU Extension.
"We have had a great year with over 1,600 WSU faculty and staff choosing to support the various areas they are passionate about," said Wilson. "In order to hit our fiscal year 2012 goal with a 25 percent participation rate, we need approximately 180 more faculty and staff participants."

"At this time last year, only 21 percent were participating, but this year we have already reached 23 percent participation and have raised more than $730,000," Montagne said. "While the total dollar figure is significant, the most important thing is to participate at whatever amount you can."
