Military leader to speak at WSU Tri-Cities commencement

RICHLAND, Wash. - Major General Timothy J. Lowenberg will be the keynote speaker at the commencement ceremony for Washington State University Tri-Cities.
Commencement will be at 1 p.m. Friday, May 11, in the Toyota Center, 7016 W. Grandridge Blvd., Kennewick. Family, friends and community members are invited. Admission is free; no tickets are needed. The ceremony will start promptly and last about 90 minutes.
A total of 424 students are graduating. About 300 are expected to participate in the ceremony, including two graduate students receiving doctoral degrees and 97 receiving master’s degrees.
Lowenberg has served as adjutant general of the Washington Military Department since 1999. He commands all state Army and Air National Guard forces and administers the state's Emergency Management and Enhanced 911 telecommunications programs.
Holding undergraduate and juris doctor degrees from the University of Iowa, Lowenberg has served in U.S. Air Force active duty, Air Force Reserve and Air National Guard legal and operational command assignments since 1968. His career includes public and private law practice, plus teaching law at Seattle University. Visit here for a full biography.
WSU Tri-Cities is located along the scenic Columbia River in Richland, Wash. Established in 1989 with upper division and graduate programs, WSU Tri-Cities expanded in 2007 to a four-year undergraduate campus offering 18 bachelor’s, 10 master’s and six doctoral degrees.
