PULLMAN, Wash. – Washington State University faculty are invited to help devise WSU’s research agenda at the WSU Research Summit 3-5 p.m. Tuesday, May 8, in the CUB ballroom. A reception will follow.

 

The event will be broadcast through AMS at Spokane, SAC 501; Tri-Cities, 256W; and Vancouver, TBD. If you have additional sites needs, please contact Pam Kelley at pjkelley@wsu.edu.

Faculty from all disciplines will gather to network, celebrate WSU research accomplishments, learn about the upcoming federal agenda, national priorities and opportunities. They will strategize with the vice president for research about continuing WSU’s research ascendency and developing its scholarly, creative and research future.

 

The program will include:

 

* A presentation about infrastructure supporting research by Viji Murali, vice president for WSU Information Services, and Roger Patterson, Office of Business & Finance.

 

* Pat Hunt, professor in molecular biosciences, addressing ways for faculty to talk about their research.

 

* Glynda Becker, director of WSU Government Relations, outlining federal priorities and program vision.

 

* An opportunity for faculty to develop a "super” collaborative idea for solutions to societal grand challenges and potentially transformative research. Top competitive ideas will be juried and receive funding.

 

* A roundtable discussion, which will be faculty members’ opportunity to help devise the research agenda at WSU. Participating faculty will include Jennifer Adam, Erica Austin, Sue Clark, Kristen Johnson, Donald Knowles, Chen-Ching Liu, Courtney Meehan, John Nilson, Guy Palmer, John Roll, Paul Whitney and Greg Yasinitsky.
