Tuesday, Apr. 10, 2012
PULLMAN, Wash. – Celebrate 50 years of the Washington State University Extension 4-H Foundation by pledging your support at one of the upcoming events throughout the state.
"4-H is a cornerstone in the development of young people, and any opportunity to contribute to the advancement of this program is an opportunity to secure the future strength of our culture,” said Kent Hojem, CEO of the Western Washington Fair and past president of the foundation.
Festivities will be held 4-6 p.m. April 27 at the Westport Winery in Westport; 3-5 p.m. May 5 at the Southwest Washington Fairgrounds in Chehalis; and at 4 p.m. June 30 at the Schwartz Farm in Reardan.
On Sept. 21, the first Washington State 4-H Alumni Day will take place 5-8 p.m. at the Western Washington State Fair and Events Center in Puyallup.
Presentations by youth who benefit from support of the foundation will highlight the celebrations. Appetizers will be served.
Contributions are used to enhance local, national and international experiences for the 90,000 4-H youth statewide. Funds are targeted for youth citizenship and leadership opportunities, scholarships and to support adult mentors.
The foundation’s goal is to raise $1 million by 2015.
