will join the University Singers in concert.
PULLMAN, Wash. – A new cantata by Washington State University graduate student Marc Robinson and Dean Luethi, WSU assistant professor of music, will be performed in a free, public concert at 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 16, in Bryan Hall. "Singing For Justice: Songs of the American Civil Rights Movement” will be presented by the WSU University Singers as part of WSU’s observance of February as national Black History Month.

In the American civil rights movement, singing helped spread a message difficult for many to hear otherwise. It inspired and empowered those advocating and participating in nonviolent protest.

Through song and narration, the cantata will guide the audience from Rosa Parks' historic bus ride through the assassination of Martin Luther King, Jr. Music will include "Wade in the Water,” "A Change is Gonna Come,” "I’m On My Way to Freedom Land” and more.

Joining the University Singers will be gospel recording artist Marilyn Keller, pianist Brian Ward, bassist Dave Snyder, percussionist David Jarvis and narrator Bernadette Buchanan.
