Oct. 9: New marching band leader conducts symphonic concert

bassoon-150PULLMAN, Wash. – New Cougar Marching Band Director Troy Bennefield will guest conduct in a free, public concert of the Washington State University Symphonic Band and Symphonic Wind Ensemble at 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 9, in Bryan Hall.

The wind ensemble, conducted by Danh Pham, will perform a variety of band classics and transcriptions. Graduate student Christopher Nelson will guest conduct the premiere of his composition, “Wayfaring Stranger.”

Bennefield will guest conduct Samuel Barber’s “Commando March” with the wind group and also “Prelude, Siciliano and Rondo” by Malcolm Arnold; “Dusk” by Steven Bryant; and “Undertow” by John Mackey with the symphonic band.
