Alumnus named head coach of Penn State football

Franklin-80PULLMAN, Wash. – Alumnus James Franklin, 41, has been named head coach of the Penn State Nittany Lions football team.

He earned his master’s degree in educational leadership from the Washington State University College of Education in 1999.

A Pennsylvania native, Franklin most recently led Vanderbilt University to bowls in all three of his seasons there. He replaces Bill O’Brien, who left Penn State after two years to coach the NFL’s Houston Texans.
